Take Part: Schools

Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios

Saturday 26 May – Sunday 10 June

This is a past event which has now ended.

Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios is a 16-day county-wide celebration of the arts and a key event in Norfolk’s visual arts calendar. This year over 450 artists across the region will open up their studios to the public, revealing where, why and how they work. Participating artists practice a wide range of art forms including painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, metalwork, woodturning and much more. All studios are free to visit and many artists welcome group visits and offer engagement and education work.

Since 2010 the scheme has also invited all Norfolk Schools to take part. In 2018 sixteen schools are taking part in the scheme and throughout May and June they will be opening up their art studios, classrooms and exhibition spaces to showcase, celebrate and champion the creativity and achievements of their pupils. Taking part offers young people the opportunity to share and exhibit their work and creativity on an equal platform with those older and more experienced, professional artists across the county.

The full programme, including opening dates, times and additional events and exhibitions, will be available from early April on our website nnopenstudios.org.uk and in our brochure which will be distributed countywide.

Would your school like to take part? To register your interest for 2019, the scheme’s 25th anniversary, please email: nnopenstudios@nnfestival.org.uk or visit nnopenstudios.org.uk/take-part.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
