Creative Partnerships

Creative Partnerships

We are delighted to announce the launch of the application process for the Creative Partnerships programme 2010

Creative Partnerships is the government's flagship programme for schools and young people. It unlocks the creativity of learners and educators and develops approaches to teaching all aspects of the curriculum. It asks questions about what and how children need to learn, both to prepare themselves for adult life and to experience childhood in an exciting, empowering way.

We are currently looking for 32 schools to join our enquiry programme, starting in September 2010.

The Enquiry programme works with schools over a period of one year, to explore how creative teaching and learning can enhance practice, with a budget of £4,000. Enquiry Schools decide on a specific focus for their programme in relation to the broader needs of the school. They are also offered the opportunity to link with the Norfolk & Norwich Festival programme.

Quotes from teachers Involved in last year’s programme in Norfolk:

“This is the most exciting learning journey I have been on since…. Well, ever. And I’ve done a lot of research and work in this sort of thing.”

“I haven’t been this creative since 1983, when I did my PGCE. This has reminded me why I do what I do.”

More information about Creative Partnerships and the Norfolk & Norwich Festival

Creative Partnerships has four principles:

Question: We challenge and relish being challenged, experimenting to find unexpected solutions

Connect: We encourage a brave approach to collaboration and are relentlessly partnership spirited

Imagine: We believe that the development of the individual imagination is a fundamental human right

Reflect: We invest energy to ensure that learning never stops, so that creative experiences result in change with lasting, sustainable impact

Nationally Creative Partnerships supports thousands of innovative, long-term partnerships between schools and creative professionals, from architects to scientists, multi-media developers to artists. These professionals inspire schools to deliver the curriculum through innovative teaching techniques, encouraging young people to challenge themselves in new ways, gain confidence and take an active role in their learning. Young people develop the skills they need to perform well not only in exams and extra-curricular activities, but also in the workplace and society. Working with Creative Partnerships, schools use creativity to solve problems and see real improvements in pupil behaviour and school performance.
