Ways of Seeing Book Cover

A special event which pays tribute to the late Booker prize-winning novelist and visionary art critic John Berger and the 45th anniversary of his seminal work Ways of Seeing. Writer and curator, Gareth Evans, will be joined by artist John Christie and film-maker Michael Dibb (both long-term collaborators with Berger) for an extended gaze at Berger’s legacy - marking the 45th anniversary of his seminal work Ways of Seeing, and his recent passing.

In the words of John Berger

John Berger, the Booker-prize-winning novelist and visionary art critic who defined a generation's perception of visual art, passed away aged 90 on 2 January 2017. We're looking back at some of his most inspirational quotes - and looking forward to our event in his honour at Norfolk & Norwich Festival this May with John Christie, Gareth Evans and Michael Dibb.

This event is part of our City of Literature Weekend, 26 - 28 May
