Bow Down

The Opera Group

Sunday 20 & Monday 21 May, 8.30pm

Harrison Birtwistle composer
Tony Harrison libretto

An ancient murder ballad re-imagined for a diverse contemporary audience, Bow Down evokes the narratives of Grimm, Lorca and Sarah Kane in its exploration of repression, sex and death. The Opera Group, in association with London Sinfonietta, presents an interdisciplinary ensemble of young musicians, actors, spoken-word artists, dancers and singers, who bring this parable of jealousy, betrayal and thwarted desire to percussive and visceral life.

Coaches will leave Norwich Theatre Royal at 8.30pm.
Return to Theatre Royal by approximately 10.45pm

Bow Down takes place in an outdoor, woodland setting, so please wear appropriate clothing. There will be a short walk through woods to reach the performance area and basic seating will be provided.

Pre-performance talk Frederic Wake-Walker, Artistic Director of The Opera Group in conversation with Patrick Dickie.
Monday 21 May, 7.30pm, Assembly House. Free to ticket holders.
