Debussy Nocturnes
Elgar Sea Pictures
Poulenc Gloria

Elgar’s Sea Pictures is coming home – its world première was at the Norfolk & Norwich Festival in 1899. These ever-popular songs are by turns soothing, yearning and tempestuous. Debussy’s three Nocturnes marvellously convey impressions of light, from the shifting shadows of clouds to the spark and glow of festive illuminations and the glimmer of a moonlit sea.

Poulenc’s Gloria is a stirring work for soprano, chorus and orchestra, and one of the best-loved of all 20th-century scores. It closes this thrilling programme on a glittering high note.
