Fiercest Light Film Screening

Friday 11 November
3pm - 5pm

Fiercest Light builds on the legacy of Fierce Light, a major national co-commission from 14-18 NOW, Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Writers' Centre Norwich which premiered at the Festival in May 2016, uniting contemporary writers, artists and filmmakers with the legacy of WW1 and its heritage in the 21st century. Fiercest Light encourages new and underrepresented voices to draw inspiration from the heritage of WW1 with a contemporary response.

This project for schools and community groups includes a collaborative poetry making workshop from Writers’ Centre Norwich, followed by BBC Voices workshops teaching participants how to transform the words into film.

The films created from this project will culminate in November 2016 with a  screening event at Cinema City, Norwich, with each community and school group’s response presented, creating an environment for learning from other perspectives and continuing the dialogue surrounding 14-18-NOW’s centenary legacy project.

A School's Screening will also take place in the morning on Friday 11 November; places for this are now allocated but if you are a teacher interested in being added to a waiting list, or finding out more about taking part in future projects like Fiercest Light please email Tanner Barnes, Participation & Engagement Manager at
