Still from the film Twenty Feet from Stardom
+ David Ward
The star of the Oscar-winning Twenty Feet From Stardom, Lisa Fischer is best-known as the woman who sings her heart out with the Rolling Stones – the YouTube of her 'Gimme Shelter' duet with Mick Jagger has had millions of hits.
This is her first UK concert in her own right – as the Huffington Post said “she is deeply in love with the act of singing, utterly and blissfully present in the welling-up of each note, in the zone of the sublime”.
'Lisa Fischer not only rocks, she swoops, whispers, and scats.' PopMatters
Support comes from David Ward
The Guardian voted singer songwriter David Ward ‘most likely to: be assured of a golden future’ — a pretty special endorsement, and one of the reasons he’s opening for Lisa Fischer at Norfolk & Norwich Festival.
Two UK tours later, David has garnered acclaim for expansive, orchestral project Transitioning: A Rhapsody in Five Parts, with ‘a songwriting sensibility that is, at times, devastating’ - Clash.
This performance features Transitioning being performed with its original string arrangements as David collaborates with members of ‘future jazz gods on the rise’ (TimeOut) Engines Orchestra.
