Falla Siete canciones populares españolas
A wonderful overview of the art of song spanning 400 years. Lotte Betts-Dean’s rich and expressive mezzo encapsulates the joys, pains and anticipation of love, from the plaintive outpourings of Dowland’s exquisite lute songs to the irresistible passion of Falla’s traditional Spanish canciones and the haunting timelessness of Britten’s 20th-century take on English folk songs. Betts-Dean is accompanied in this lyrical, intimate and emotional selection by guitar virtuoso Andrey Lebedev, who also performs three evocative pieces by the greatest of Latin–American composers.
A stunning range of talent and repertoire is the hallmark of the ever-popular concert series by students from the Royal Academy of Music. The stars of tomorrow offer a richly diverse programme that includes something for all musical tastes.
