This exciting young quintet will perform original pieces and arrangements by its director, Misha Mullov-Abbado. Its repertoire draws on a vast range of inspirations and influences, from classical music to jazz and pop. Bach and Brahms jostle alongside swing, funk and other groove-based styles in the ensemble’s dynamic soundworld — all performed with a glorious blend of joie de vivre and finesse.
Royal Academy of Music Concert Series
A Special feature of the Festival’s music programme is the series of concerts given by students from the Royal Academy of Music. The series provides a showcase not just for the finest emerging talent but also for an exhilaratingly eclectic programme of music that ranges across musical epochs, tastes and boundaries. This year ensembles take centre stage, with a trio, a quartet and a quintet mining the repertoire from classic Beethoven to contemporary originality. Alongside them, breathtaking virtuosity on the accordion and the piano.
