Friday 10 – Saturday 11 May
A spectacular outdoor celebration of the senses opens the Festival, transforming Cathedral Close into a luminous dreamscape.
Mysterious figures, glowing from within, beckon you into a world of ethereal beauty. The performers themselves become giant lanterns lighting the way to a climax of music, movement and majesty. The magical spectacle of Rêve d’Herbert has delighted audiences around the world and provides a mesmerising opening to this year’s Festival.
Capacity within Cathedral Close is limited, so arrive early to enjoy an unforgettable escape into dreamland for the whole family. This is a promenade performance where audiences follow the performers.
Disabled access is available via the Ethelbert Gate, which is off the southern end of Tombland. Anyone who requires disabled access can be dropped off and collected at this point.
